Re: The Voice UK

Post  Admin on Mon Apr 23, 2012 11:20 pm

Viewers saw the coaches on BBC1's The Voice choose the final 20 acts who will head through to the live stages of the contest.

They include Jaz Ellington who became favourite to win the contest after he was seen securing a place on the show last week, while Joelle Moses is the next most-fancied.

But there has been disappointment for some well-known faces including former Five Star singer Deniece Pearson who was axed during this weekend's "battle stage".

Each of the coaches - Jessie J, Danny O'Donoghue, Sir Tom Jones and Will.i.am - had to choose half of their team to go forward, and the rest were axed from the show.

During the two 90-minute shows screened during the weekend there were tears and heartache as contestants saw their dreams dashed, and the coaches were in turmoil with their choices.

Those who have made it through include Amy Winehouse's pal Tyler James and aristocratic Lady Catherine Brudenell-Bruce, known to viewers as Bo Bruce.

But it is Jaz Ellington - whose audition had Will and Jessie in tears - who leads the pack with bookmaker William Hill putting him at 5-1 to take victory.

On Saturday viewers begin to have their say as the public vote begins, whittling away one member from each of the coaches' teams of five.

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE 20 HOPEFULS

These are the 20 who have made it this far:

Team Jessie:

Becky Hill, 18, from Kidderminster - Becky is a sixth-form student, as well as budding singer/songwriter and a part-time barmaid in a pub. During the blind auditions she dazzled the judges with her version of John Legend's Ordinary People.

Cassius Henry, 32, from London - Cassius had his first bite of the cherry for a music career when he was just 16, but the loss of his brother led to his record deal slipping through his fingers. He attracted the attentions of both Jessie and Danny during the auditions when he sang Neyo's Closer.

Ruth Ann St Luce, 18, from London - Ruth Ann, who works for retailer River Island, has been a keen singer for a decade and wrote her first song when she was just 13. She wowed the judges with Snow Patrol's Run in her audition

Toni Warne, 34, from Great Yarmouth - Toni suffers from alopecia and lost her hair at the age of 21 which shattered her self-belief and stopped her from pursuing a music career. The gospel choir singer performed Will Young's Leave Right Now during her blind audition.

Vince Kidd, 22, from London - Vince has written songs for record labels and was a contestant on The X Factor in 2007 with boyband Futureproof under his real name Matthew Protheroe. His huge vocal range led Jessie to think he was a girl when he performed Madonna's Like A Virgin in the blind auditions.

Team Will:

Frances Wood, 18, from Wakefield - the pub singer and busker made her performing debut at the age of four singing the Spice Girls' Stop at a holiday camp. Her desire to sing led to bullying at school but she has had the last laugh after winning through with her version of Black Eyed Peas' Where Is the Love in the auditions.

Jaz Ellington, 27, from London - Jaz almost missed the audition after being treated in hospital for an asthma attack. He started singing in church and runs gospel workshops. His audition moved Will and Jessie to tears when he was invited to sing Ordinary People.

Joelle Moses, 21, from London - Joelle, who has flirted with the music industry before by recording demo vocals for the likes of Rihanna, Gabriella Cilmi and Toni Braxton. She united the judges who all wanted her on their team following her blind audition with Adele's Rolling in the Deep.

Sophie Griffin, 17, from Co Tyrone - Sophie busks and plays small gigs and draws inspiration from Beyonce. She is also a huge fan of coach O'Donoghue and has twice queued for eight hours to see his band The Script. After performing Estelle's American Boy in the blind audition, she told him: "I've queued for hours to see you - and now you're front row for me. This is crazy."

Tyler James, 30, from London - Tyler was a friend of Amy Winehouse and had his own record deal in 2001. He said Winehouse's death was his wake-up call to get back into music. He performed Otis Redding's Sitting on the Dock of the Bay at the blind auditions.

Team Tom:

Adam Isaac, 29, from Exeter - he was a professional golfer until injury forced him to quit. He has already released an EP and has been gigging for 10 years, performing at Joss Stone's mother's venue. He was so in-demand during his that he prompted a name-drop battle between Will and Sir Tom.

Leanne Mitchell, 28, from Lowestoft - Leanne is a holiday camp singer who writes and plays keyboards and was close to sealing a record contract. She wowed both Sir Tom and Donoghue with her audition track, Beyonce's If I Were A Boy.

Matt Clubb & Sueleen Fletcher, 34, from Canterbury - the folk duo have been romantically entwined for 15 years and singing together in local pubs for eight. Chef Clubb and his teaching assistant partner have talked about marrying if they win. They Sang A Little Time by Beautiful South at the audition stage and flipped a coin to choose their mentor.

Ruth Brown, 20, from London - Ruth, who sings in a choir promised her music-loving father she would audition for the show before he died last year. She relaxes by writing songs and has for the Prime Minister. Her audition tune was David Guetta's When Love Takes Over.

Sam Buttery, 20, from London - bequiffed Sam once failed to get a part in a school play because was not thought to be strong enough. The student is known as "Samarotti" by his family for his performances of operatic tunes which he has enjoyed since he was four. He tackled Adele's Set Fire To The Rain at audition.

Team Danny:

Aleks Josh, 17, from Stevenage - the part-time lifeguard says music has been his focus since leaving school early and has kept him out of trouble. He prefers to convey his emotions through music than speaking. The Jason Mraz song I'm Yours got him through the audition.

Bo Bruce, 27, from Wiltshire - her father is the Earl of Cardigan and her real name is Lady Catherine Brudenell-Bruce. She admitted to being a wild teen who dabbled in drugs and she has already released an EP on her own label.

David Julien, 23, from Manchester - David quit his job as a supermarket shelf-stacker in the hope of becoming a full-time singer after shedding two stone to weigh in at 13-stone. He sang The Script's hit The Man That Can't Be Moved.

Hannah Berney, 21, from Chepstow - cheerleader Hannah is studying French and history at university and has been invited to sing for the Queen at the jubilee celebrations in Exeter. She was so flustered after singing Lady Gaga's You And I, she forgot her own mother's name.

Max Milner, 21, from London - Max and his girlfriend were left temporarily unable to work after a nasty motorbike accident last year. Both his parents are actors and he has starred in a UK tour of musical Footloose. His audition piece was a mash-up of Eminem's Lose Yourself and The Beatles' Come Together.

Public support for Adam Isaac on The Voice

Post  Moderator on Mon Apr 30, 2012 8:32 pm

Adam Isaac has received the public's seal of approval after advancing to the next round of BBC One's The Voice.

The Exeter-based singer gave a rousing rendition of the Foo Fighters' All My Life on Saturday's live show – the only true rock performance of the evening.
The 29-year-old singer-songwriter was praised by his Team Tom coach Sir Tom Jones, especially after his early struggles during rehearsals.

But all that changed when Adam, a surf-lover who started performing 12 years ago when he was studying golf at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, grabbed his trusty guitar and hit centre stage to the cheers of the live audience.

Adam, who has been building up his Westcountry fan-base while working as a resident musician and events manager at the Mama Stone's venue in Exeter – a venue owned by Joss Stone's mother Wendy – advanced by virtue of The Voice's first public vote alongside Ruth Brown and Tyler James.

The left Sir Tom to decide between Sam Buttery and Matt & Sueleen as to who would become the first Team Tom member to leave.

In the end, the Welsh singing legend cut Sam adrift, saying: "What I think is that Sam and Matt & Sueleen are great entertainers and it's very, very difficult because they are so different. But I can only judge it on last night's performance. And I think I'm going to take Matt & Sueleen."

Team Will, meanwhile, said goodbye to Northern Irish teenager Sophie Griffin. She was axed be her coach will.i.am ahead of Joelle Moses.

His other acts, Frances Wood, Jaz Ellington and Leanne Mitchell, were made safe by the public vote. Will had to decide to save either Joelle or Sophie.

The Voice's live show was watch by 9.3 million viewers on Saturday – 100,000 viewers fewer than ITV's Britain's Got Talent.

On your phones

Adam Isaac is one of the 4 artists left in Team Tom and will be singing live again this Saturday. ONLY ONE of the artists will be SAVED BY PUBLIC VOTES so he will need as many of your votes as possible! If you can vote once, that's great. If you can vote more than once, that's even better! The record is currently held by Lesha with 131 votes in 30 minutes (quite impressive!).
There is only a small timeframe to vote on Saturday night. The live show will begin at 6.10pm and the votes will start being counted at the end of the show for a few minutes only.

Feel free to spread the word! Various actions have already taken place such as: restaurants typing the the number to call on their receipts, bars offering free shots to people who can prove they have voted for Adam, etc. If you have some good ideas to share, do it here!

If you could invite all your friends to vote for Adam, that would be amazing. To do it the quick way, you can use the following invite code:

When you're on the event page (this one), click 'Join', then 'Invite Friends'. Scroll down to the bottom of your friends list then copy the link below (everything from javascript to 2000)} included) and paste it in the website address bar (remove facebook.com/events/blablabla first). Now press 'Enter'. Tah-dah! The ticks start appearing. Check that everyone has been ticked and click 'Send'. Voilà! All your friends have now been invited!

javascript:javascript:var elms=document.getElementsByName("checkableitems[]");for(var count=0;count
Thanks to every one of you for your help so far. No doubt will all this help the amazing South West music scene get the recognition it deserves!

The Voice's Adam Isaac – the nicest man in the world?

Post  Admin on Mon May 14, 2012 9:29 pm

Aww – if we’re going to miss any of the four acts booted off tonight it’s Adam Isaac. (Well, okay that’s a bit harsh, we’ll miss them all). Anyway – back to Adam – we’ll miss his perfect hair, his pretty cheekbones, his winning smile, and, oh, yeah, his actually quite nice singing voice. AND his way with a guitar. We’ve always imagined our boyfriend would have a guitar.

But sadly Adam’s going to be packing his guitar (and his lovely hair and cheekbones and smile and singing voice) because he was one of the two (along with old mad-haired Matt and Sueleen) who Tom didn’t save, opting instead for old big-voice Leanne (who we like, so we’re not too upset about it).

Yet despite Adam’s obvious disappointment at not going through – we definitely saw some manly jaw clenching going on as he fought back his emotions – Adam proved once again that he is LITERALLY THE NICEST MAN IN THE WORLD with his comments.

Firstly he actually sympathised with Tom Jones – THE VERY MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS DEMISE – saying “I don’t envy you your decision.”

And then he went on to actually agree with it, saying “This show is called the voice and Leanne has the voice.”

While Holly basically died of cuteness and Tom did his all-emotional bit and wiped tears from his eyes, saying “You must take this as an experience and go away stronger than when first went in” – we’re not ashamed to admit we got a bit emotional too.

Can they not just invent a new kind of Wildcard round, but called a Nicecard, so the contestant that’s been the nicest (ie Adam) gets to come back on the show and be all nice again?

Just a suggestion The Voice Producery People. Just a suggestion.
