Mama Stones 10th April 2012

Not just any Wednesday at Mama Stones

Yes Sir Boss brought their eclectic sound to Mama Stone's on Wednesday and it was everything promised and more! Joss Stone executive produced their album "Desperate State" released under her label Stone'd Records, and although she wasn't in the house last night to provide additional vocals on Mrs. #1 as she does on the album, the enthusiastic audience certainly didn't mind. Indeed the packed dance floor never missed a beat and sang and danced their way through every number. Yes Sir Boss is a good time party band and the live performance brings a whole new dimension to their recorded work. This is a band that really does need to be seen live to fully appreciate. They have sensational stage presence and are amazingly tight. The musicianship of the whole band is superb, and the depth that the small brass section brings, with the odd plastic Melodica and Glockenspiel thrown in, add just the right amount of funk and boogie. If you get the chance to see this band take it, you won't be disappointed. www.yessirboss.com

Opening for Yes Sir Boss was Chris Ostler who has been playing in and around Exeter for a while now and he is getting better all the time. He didn't have an easy time as the crowd was obviously ready for the headliners but he held the stage well and his voice was excellent. Chris is getting higher profile gigs all the time and he richly deserves them. He is very good, and getting better. www.chrisostler.co.uk
