Mama Stones 2nd June 2011
Yes Sir Boss are almost certainly the one band that UK music lovers must get to know in 2011. Brimming with funky, infectious rock and ska music, melodic tunes and the elastic vocal work of lead singer, Mathew Sellors.
Yes Sir Boss played at Mama Stone’s in Exeter, June 2nd to a crowd that danced from the very first song to the last. Yes Sir Boss are now signed to Stone’d Records label and Mathew told the UKJossStoneForum team that they are anticipating a July release of their first album signed with the record company. Yes Sir Boss kicked off their gig at Mama Stone’s in Exeter with ‘Not Guilty’ with Tom First opening the song and oozing romantic sounds from his trumpet, then the band breaking into their groove, the crowd goes immensely wild. Songs included ‘Pretty thing’ with those unmistakable horn sections punching through, You and Me, Chasing the Gun, Western Boy Blues and Joe Diamond.
On vocals and guitar was Matthew Sellors taking the lead with his strong throaty vocals pulling you in. On guitar was the cheeky chappy Luke Potter with his intense style, while holding down the groove is Reuben Nimmo on drums with his classy and punchy drumming and Josh Stopford on Bass with his vibrant funky sounds, not forgetting the horn section who are Jehan Abdel-Malak with her marvelous tones on the saxaphone and Tom First with his gratifying sounds on the Trumpet. After what was an astonishing, intense and intimate gig the band rescined to meet and greet their fans outside Mama Stone’s. Yes Sir Boss are a wonderful band and we wish them the best for what is sure to be a magnificent future in making people feel their magical music. – UKJossStoneForum
