First single 'Mama Used to Say' to be released June 20th
Beverley Knight will be releasing her highly anticipated 7th studio album on July 4th 2011. Entitled ‘Soul UK,’ the album is a celebration of UK soul music - the British songs and artists that inspired Beverley leading up to her own arrival on the UK scene in the mid 90's. It is a personal journey, curated by Beverley and delivered with her own unique soul/gospel style, through some of her all time favorite soulful tracks by British artists. As with her previous album, 2009’s acclaimed Top 20 scoring ‘100%’, ‘Soul UK’ will be released through Beverley’s own label Hurricane Records.

But what I'd really like is the chance to be heard internationally. That is what Adele, Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone have achieved

"I'm very grateful when people tell me I've been an influence on their career," Knight says. "To be an influence on someone's career is massive. It's the biggest accolade you could ever have. But what I'd really like is the chance to be heard internationally. That is what Adele, Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone have achieved. They’re smashing it everywhere and I’d welcome that same opportunity.

I got my Beverley Knight 'SOUL UK' album today
It's very good, very polished and well worth a listen! It also came with a free live dvd so not bad at all 5

Really excited to see what material Bev's gonna do at Mama Stone's this year, hopefully some old faithfuls and some quirky obscure songs too. I love this acoustic version below from the Music City Soul album and very different from the album release

Singer Beverley Knight is to replace Heather Headley in the West End production of The Bodyguard.

This I will be going to see but what's even more exciting is Bev announced this morning on UK's 'Day Break' TV show that she is in the middle of writing and recording a new album which is set to be released after she finishes the west end show The Bodyguard. Beverley said it's going to be a back to the roots soul record with some inspiration from some old skool rock and roll influences. Canny wait to hear it!
