Yes Sir Boss bring worldly musical and cultural influences with their single 'Never Know', with a blend of horn led hooks, offbeat rhythms, catchy lyrics and epic riffs. This quirky band from Bristol has lots of energy, featuring a trumpet, melodica, keys, saxophone, ukulele, guitars, drums and of course vocals. Supporting Joss Stone on a European tour, the band are now signed to her newly established label Stone'd Records and it is worth noting that they were the first UK act to sign to the label. These guys will get you dancing with their bouncy music. Catchy and exhilarating, Yes Sir Boss will soon be bringing more of this material with a debut album, due to be released in 2012. If you haven’t already seen them at some the UK’s most beloved festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Electric Picnic and Green Man, then be sure to catch them live in the near future.

The band like to think that they present a truly original, distinct and indefinable sound - and from listening to the single, they’re right. You can’t put a genre to this band, what you seem to hear is a mashup of Eastern European influences, jazz and rock, but it's probably up to the listener to define their music. The downside of this is that they seem to lack an identity, but it is sometimes refreshing to not put a band into a certain category. Their quirkiness sure makes them stand out, but if you’re a Londoner, you might have heard music like this before in the city's live music circuit. Despite this, Yes Sir Boss deserve some praise. As soon as the track opens, you are hit with a theatrical sound and you can’t help but smile. Just when you think it’s calming down with harmonic vocals and a guitar, it unexpectedly hits you again with the pumping energy of horns and drums.

Listening to 'Never Know' makes you want to see what this band is like live. Not only do the instruments have character and energy, but so do the lead vocals by Matt Sellors. Despite a mashup of sounds, it all fits together perfectly. This is a band of six individuals who are expressive and it is no wonder that they have become one of Bristol’s headlining bands - this is high quality music.
